Prof. Keiichi Hosaka (JPN)
Keiichi Hosaka earned his DDS in 2003 and his PhD in 2007 from Tokyo Medical and Dental University, focusing on dentin bonding under Prof. Tagami. He began his academic career in 2008 as an Assistant Professor at TMDU, and in 2021, he was appointed Professor and Department Chair at Tokushima University.
In 2005, he expanded his research globally as a visiting scholar at the Medical College of Georgia, working with Prof. David Pashley. In 2023, he furthered his international work as a visiting researcher at MIT and The ADA Forsyth Institute. Recently, he co-founded Amidex, Inc., a university start-up aimed at advancing minimal intervention dentistry using digital technologies. He is passionate about leading research in next-generation direct composite restoration, integrating adhesive and digital techniques for minimally invasive dental solutions.
Prof. Dr. Bas Loomans (NL)
Bas Loomans obtained his PhD-degree in the topic of restorative dentistry in 2007. He is involved in research, undergraduate and postgraduate education. His main research interests are the management and treatment of severe tooth wear, diagnostic criteria, development of smart dental materials, translational research, intra-oral censoring of gastric acid, and decision-making processes using artificial intelligence. He has become a nationally and internationally recognized expert in adhesive and restorative dentistry and is the project leader of the ‘Radboud Tooth Wear Project’.
Additionally, in 2019 he received the international Steve Bayne Mid-Career Award of the Dental Materials Group of the International Association of Dental Research.
Prof. Amélie Mainjot (BE)
Amélie Mainjot graduated from the University of Liège (Belgium), got a Master of Science in Dental Materials Technology from Paris Descartes University (France) and a PhD degree from the University of Paris 13 and the University of Liège. In 2014, she became a Professor in Dental Biomaterials at the University of Liège.
She is the co-founder and the Head of the Dental Biomaterials Research Unit (d-BRU). Her research interests include ceramics and composites (particularly CAD-CAM materials), and new treatment strategies development (notably for tooth wear). Her clinical activity as Head of Clinic in the department of Fixed Prosthodontics at the University Hospital of Liège is focused on esthetic and minimally-invasive dentistry, as well as multidisciplinary management of complex cases on teeth and implants.
Prof. Carlo Monaco (IT)
Carlo Monaco is Associate Professor of Prosthodontics and Director of the Master program in Prostheses and implant prostheses with advanced technologies at University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. He holds a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Bologna, and obtained the PhD in Dental Materials at University of Siena and a second PhD in Material Engineering at Faculty of Engineering at University of Bologna.
He has held numerous continuing education courses in Italy and Europe and received several national and international awards. In the last twenty years he developed with Prof. Giovanni Zucchelli new approaches regarding the relationship between Prostheses, new dental materials and periodontics and implant dentistry above all in the esthetic area.
Priv. Doz. Dr. José Ignacio Zorzin (DE)
Priv.-Doz. Dr. José Ignacio Zorzin is a senior physician, researcher, and lecturer at the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Periodontology at the University Hospital of Erlangen. His research topics include the adhesive bonding of indirect restorative materials, dental ceramics, and composites. His clinical focus is minimally invasive aesthetic restorations, endodontics, and dental photography.
Dr. Zorzin passed his state examination with distinction in 2009, obtained his doctorate in 2011 on the subject of dental adhesives, and received his venia legendi in 2019 on the subject of "Dental materials in modern dentistry". He publishes regularly in scientific journals and is a speaker at conferences and training courses.
PROGRAM
--------------------------
Friday November 8th
18:00 - 22:00 | Informal dinner & networking @ the Arena Hotel
Saturday November 9th
COFFEE BREAK
Overview of key factors affecting the longevity of composite restorations, including the influence of mechanical challenges and caries risk. Some insights from the Radboud Tooth Wear Project, highlighting critical risk factors in treating patients with severe tooth wear, will be shared.
LUNCH BREAK
Choosing between direct and indirect methods for single-tooth restorations can be challenging due to advancements in resin composites. This lecture clarifies the boundaries between direct and indirect approaches by explaining modern resin composites, reviewing technologies, scientific literature, and demonstrating applications with clinical examples.
In this presentation, we will explore the latest advances in adhesive systems, resin composites, and digital innovations that are shaping the future of direct composite restorations. We will highlight how these technological advances enable more predictable and durable restorations, providing clinicians with better outcomes and patients with less invasive treatments. With a focus on practical applications, this talk will demonstrate the potential of these breakthroughs in clinical practice, particularly when using Kuraray’s cutting-edge materials.
